Fact-checking
You think that you're the leading producer of fine goose quill pens in the country, and you'd like to say so. But the question is, are you really?
Before you go touting your wares in a brochure or on your website, it's a good idea to get your facts straight first. This would be a good time to hire a copyeditor to fact-check your materials.
Fact-checking is usually part of the general copyediting process. For example, if I'm copyediting your brochure, I will physically call every number listed to make sure that the correct person answers. One typo, when it comes to phone numbers and email addresses, could put your entire marketing campaign in jeopardy.
But this is a service that also could be provided outside of other standard copyediting tasks. Maybe you already have a website that is up and running, and you just want to be sure that you haven't misstated anything along the way. I can catch any mistakes in dates, statistics, names of organizations, places, and persons, etc. -- before a visitor to your website makes the discovery!
